Welcome to Voices In The Wilderness!

On Saturday, February 28th, 2026, I read that the US and Israel had bombed Iran. Later, I read the Supreme Leader Khamenei was killed. Then, stories of more deaths, which included over 50 children killed. Additionally, it was reported that Iran’s retaliatory strikes against Israel killed one and wounded 121 more people. Later, it was reported approximately 40 more people were killed. These were stated to be Iranian officials  who died as a result of missile strikes. Furthermore, 3 U.S. Soldiers were reported killed and 5 more seriously wounded.

Regardless of political affiliations or personal leanings, it’s evident that we are living in perilous times, where many feel powerless and anxious. The Bible warns of a moral decline in society as we inch closer to an inability to resolve conflicts. 

Perilous Times

The warning in the Bible take us to 2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NKJV), “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, [b]unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!”. In this chapter the Lord seeks to give us a glimpse of moral decay, which is described as people who are “lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud…”.

Today, let’s reflect on whether we live in a world where the growth or loss of money holds more value than most other aspects of life. Consider that the Dow Jones index is shared daily. Do we celebrate and showcase money, power, and fame, and does social media influence how people perceive themselves and others? Do individuals use social media to boast about themselves, and do many seem to be overly focused on their own lives? Let’s be honest and examine what we observe in society today.

We have incredible tools today that enable us to communicate across the globe in mere minutes. While this is undoubtedly a positive development, it’s the intent of the individual using the tool that ultimately determines whether it’s employed in a constructive manner or not. 

Today, let’s focus on utilizing these tools to enhance our lives and benefit ourselves and others. Let’s unite in harmony, embrace our shared faith, and stand for peace, freedom from various forms of oppression, and love and kindness. 

Let Us Pray!

Father God, our Lord, let us all first come into your presence thanking you this day. Lord, we humbly thank you for your kindness, mercy, guidance, protection and for your continuous presence. Your Word says that you will never leave or forsake us, so we thank you for your promise and for all your promises.  

Father God, this day we join our faith praying in the similitude of Christ that your will be done in Earth as it is in Heaven. We give you full authority to touch all things that touch our lives throughout this Earth. We pray for peace across this Earth, and we pray that children and families are protected. We pray, Lord that calmer minds prevail and all that impacts us you touch. Lord, we trust you, and we stand on our faith and agree that it is so, in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Remember, the Lord’s Word is His Will, so we pray in accordance with His will. Peace, love, and kindness are all part of His will. 

Let us not forget, the Gospel means good news for all situations!
